There are two places for ISTANBUL HOSTELS for bagpackers: Sultanahmet and Taksim...

Even Sultanahmet is so rich in archeology including old Istanbul, on the other hand Taksim (Beyoglu or Istiklal Street) is rich in culture and entertainment. There are over 2000 bars and restaurants between mosques, curches, synagogues, and other historical Ottoman buildings..

There are lots of cheap hostels in Sultanahmet but their quality is not as good as the ones in Taksim...The cheap hostels (there are only a few and we are the best of them:)) in Taksim are friendlier, cheaper, cleaner and serves you better food!!

Sultanahmet is so close to Taksim for visiting...And you don't have to stay in those non-qualified hostels in Sultanahmet, you should prefer Taksim's great hostels because you won't want to miss the fun in nights in Istiklal street!
